TRUSSVILLE – Head coach Jeff Mauldin and the Hewitt-Trussville baseball program is hosting a skills camp starting next Monday, June 1.
The camp will offer two separate sessions, which will be operated by the entire Husky baseball staff. From June 1 through June 4, campers entering K5 through fifth grade will be eligible to participate from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day.
From June 8 through June 11, players ranging from sixth to eighth grade will be eligible to take the field for a three-hour session starting at 1 p.m. each day.
Both camps will cover the fundamentals of offensive and defensive baseball. Defensively, Mauldin and his staff will teach campers how to pitch, catch and play as a team.
On the offensive end, campers will learn the ends and outs of what to do at the plate as well as on the base paths.
“Our camps will cover all aspects of the game, which includes: pitching, catching, infield and outfield play, fly ball communication, run-downs, and cutoff and relay plays,” read the camp flyer. “Offensively, we will cover base running, bunting, sliding, and as many hitting techniques and drills that we can cover.”
Registration for both camp costs $110, and pre-registration saves campers $10. Players can register for the first camp beginning at 8 a.m. on June 1.
Registration for the second camp opens at 12 p.m. on June 8 and lasts for one hour. The opportunity to pre-register for the second camp ends on June 5, and pre-ordering for the first camp ends on May 29.
Parents are invited to spend the week observing the camp. “We would love to have you,” wrote Mauldin.
Along with receiving knowledge from one of the most accomplished coaching staffs in the state, campers will also get a free Husky Camp T-shirt.
