PINSON – According to Pinson Valley girls’ basketball coach Kristan Cromer, the second member of her departing senior class has signed a national letter of intent.
Maralie McKinney signed with Division II Lane College last week in the school’s auditorium. The Dragons compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference under the direction of new head coach Kimberly Anderson.
Anderson was announced as the program’s most recent head coach on March 27. Lane finished fifth in the western division of last season’s conference standings.
McKinney, standing at 5-foot-9, scored 189 points to go along with 29 assists in 2015. She also showed her value on the defensive side, nabbing 48 steals and blocking 11 shots.
Cromer will have to find a way to replace that production, along with the efforts provided by Wallace State Community College signee Alex Lowery come next year.
