In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15 Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which the day falls as National Police Week. In doing so, Kennedy officially set aside a time to “pay tribute to the law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and to voice our appreciation for all those who currently serve on the front lines of the battle against crime.”
In 2015, 273 fallen law enforcement heroes have been added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC. Please join us in remembering these fallen heroes and honoring those officers who continue to protect and serve.
