BIRMINGHAM – Shots were fired on the 1600 Block of Maple SW on Monday morning, leaving one man dead at the scene.
Detectives and the Birmingham Police Department have launched a homicide investigation.
According to authorities, the incident, which took place around 10:30 a.m., seemed to stem from a domestic altercation between the victim and his wife.
The Birmingham Fire Department pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His identity will no be released until notification has been given to his immediate family.
Witnesses claim to have seen the victim’s wife drive up in a car with an unknown male and drop clothes belonging to the victim in the street, which resulted in a fist fight between the victim and the unknown male.
As punches were being thrown, the suspect revealed a gun and shot the victim what appeared to be multiple times in the body. The suspect and the victim’s wife drove away in a blue Infiniti, leaving her husband wounded in the street.
