TRUSSVILLE – The Alabama Sports Writers Association has released its final baseball and softball rankings of the season, and both Hewitt-Trussville programs made the cut.
On the softball field, the Lady Huskies have constructed a 28-6 overall record to tab them No. 3 in the state. Head coach Jeff Mauldin and the baseball program (18-9)finished the regular season ranked eighth.
Pinson Valley, who ranked 10th in last week’s Class 6A baseball poll, dropped out of the top 10 after splitting a weekend series with the Huskies to end their regular season with a mark of 26-12.
The final Class 7A baseball rankings: No. 1 Vestavia Hills (21-11), No. 2 Mountain Brook (27-5), No. 3 Thompson (28-12), No. 4 Auburn (24-8), No. 5 Spain Park (18-11), No. 6 Hoover (25-12), No. 7 Theodore (26-5), No. 8 Hewitt-Trussville (18-9), No. 9 Central-Phenix City (25-9) and No. 10 Baker (18-9).
The final Class 7A softball rankings: No. 1 Sparkman (27-8), No. 2 Spain Park (25-5-2), No. 3 Hewitt-Trussville (28-6), No. 4 Central-Phenix City (27-8-4), No. 5 Baker (33-6-1), No. 6 Huntsville (18-10), No. 7 Thompson (23-11), No. 8 Buckhorn (22-6), No. 9 James Clemens (21-7-2) and No. 10 Tuscaloosa County (12-10).
The Hewitt-Trussville softball team will begin the Area 6 tournament at Spain Park on Tuesday, April 30.
