BIRMINGHAM — A woman escaped from the Birmingham City Jail on Tuesday night and remains at large Wednesday, according to www.myfoxal.com.
Kimberly Hope Hatfield, 27, walked out of the jail when another inmate was being released at about 9:10 p.m. Tuesday.
Hatfield was in the process of being released when she escaped. It’s likely corrections officers were checking to see if she had any holds for other jurisdictions before she was released.
Hatfield is not considered dangerous, Birmingham Police Department spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards told www.myfoxal.com.
Edwards did not immediately return a message seeking comment Wednesday.
Crime Stoppers featured her Monday on its Facebook page for a second-degree theft charge out of Jefferson County. She allegedly stole a gun. Crime Stoppers reports that Hatfield has seven prior felony convictions.
Crime Stoppers said her last known address was on Falcon Drive in Cottondale, but she also has ties to Trussville, Center Point and Pinson.
Hatfield is described as 5-foot-10 and 150 pounds, with brown hair, blue eyes and a tattoo on her back.
Anyone with information on Hatfield’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
