PINSON — Junior Troop 664 of Pinson held a pinning ceremony on March 28 to honor the girls for earning their Bronze Award.
The Bronze Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout Junior (grades 4 and 5) can earn. To earn this award, the girls must identify and fill a need within their community.
Troop 664 meets at the Pinson Community Center, which has a large grassy area lined with trees. There isn’t any seating for visitors to sit and enjoy the shade. The girls decided to make benches for visitors to sit on while they’re at the community center.
The girls upcycled wood pallets into benches, which were donated to the city of Pinson for use at the Pinson Community Center. The girls completed their project in the late fall of 2014.
The Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama Council approved the girls’ award on Feb. 26.
