TRUSSVILLE — Hewitt-Trussville has added a defensive backs coach to its varsity football staff.
Ben Ramer started with the Huskies on April 6, according to head coach Josh Floyd.
Floyd said Ramer has been coaching 16 years and “is a great fit here.”
Ramer comes to Trussville from Demopolis High School, where he was also on staff with Hewitt-Trussville defensive coordinator Rudy Griffin. They won a state championship at Demopolis in 2009.
The defensive backfield will be a key focus for Hewitt-Trussville in 2015. The Huskies have lost defensive backs Deontay Wilson (93 tackles in 2014), Dalton Meadows (58 tackles), Devin Reed (45 tackles), Jarett Nelson (44 tackles and three interceptions) and JaRon Godbolt (19 tackles) due to graduation.
