TRUSSVILLE — The Boosterthon Fun Run is set for April 9-10 at the Paine schools in Trussville.
Paine Primary School will host its run Thursday, April 9. Paine Intermediate School will hold its run Friday, April 10 at Faith Community Fellowship.
The theme for both schools is Rock’n Town Live. Students will learn five ways to make their community rock with Boosterthon’s character theme Rock’n Town Live, a music festival theme all about community. Along the way, students will gather pledges for laps they run at the Boosterthon Fun Run.

Fifth-graders will run Friday at 9 a.m., followed by fourth-graders at 10:30 a.m. Third-graders will run at 1 p.m. Families are invited to come and cheer on their students.
Last year’s Boosterthon Fun Run raised more than $63,000 for both schools. Paine Primary School used its more than $37,000 for improved technology for classroom learning. Paine Intermediate School used its more than $26,000 for a student community garden for educational and personal growth.
The Boosterthon Fun Run is a national fundraising program that promotes fitness, leadership and character and is used in more than 1,000 schools each year. The program is also about developing the friendships students already have and viewing everyone as a friend, no matter who they are, or how different they may first appear to be.
Students secured pledges toward the number of laps they run at the Boosterthon Fun Run. Students typically run between 30 and 35 laps. Thirty-five is the lap maximum.
UPDATE: Due to a high chance of rain and thunderstorms at the end of this week, the Boosterthon plans have slightly changed. The Boosterthon will be held in the Paine Intermediate School gym, not at Faith Community Fellowship Church as originally planned. However, because of construction in the Amerex parking lot, parents will need to park at Faith Community Fellowship Church at 7660 Gadsden Highway, in the parking rows closest to Highway 11. The school system’s transportation department will provide buses to shuttle parents from the church to the school. Shuttles will begin running at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day until 2:30 p.m.
