SPRINGVILLE – Shortly after the northbound lanes on Interstate 59 in Springville were reopened following this afternoon’s 24-car pileup, another accident occurred in the same area, also going north.

The wreck took place around 15 minutes after the lanes opened back up when a pickup truck collided with a Alabama Department of Transportation vehicle, which was there as a result of the earlier crash.
The driver of the ALDOT truck is believed to be fine, while the driver of the pickup has been taken to the hospital. His status has not been released to the public.
Both northbound lanes have now been opened back up following the second crash.
