TRUSSVILLE — A Hewitt-Trussville High School graduate is an Emmy Award winner.
David Ingram, a 2004 Hewitt-Trussville High School graduate, won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Coverage as part of the NBC News team that covered the Boston Marathon bombings in April 2013.
Ingram is a producer and reporter for MSNBC. He served as editor-in-chief of The Auburn Plainsman, the Auburn University student newspaper, in college.

Ingram was part of a team that broke into MSNBC programming and the NBC network, bringing ongoing coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings for about five hours.
Ingram and his colleagues in September 2014 were rewarded by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences with an Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Coverage of a Current News Story.
After the bombing, Ingram and his colleagues remained on standby in case new reports from Boston surfaced about the hunt for the two suspects.
Ingram said he never thought he’d win an Emmy Award. It sits on a desk in his New York City apartment.
“When I come home after a rough day, that’s the first thing that I see, to remind me there’s a reason that I chose to be in journalism,” Ingram said in an Auburn University video.
