PINSON — Pinson Valley has set its sights on next football season.
The Indians’ 2015 varsity schedule has been released, and it’s full of familiar opponents.
The schedule exactly mirrors the 2014 schedule, other than the home and away games being flipped.
Just like last year, Pinson Valley will open with Hartselle. This time the Tigers will play as visitors Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. Head coach Matt Glover and the Indians kicked things off last August with a narrow 27-21 defeat at Hartselle. On Aug. 28, Pinson Valley will travel to Oneonta.
Glover looks forward to another trip through Class 6A, Region 6 – the same region that he finished 4-2 in last season as a new Class 6A program.
The Indians see their first league opponent Sept. 4 when they visit Woodlawn, who finished at the bottom of the league standings a year ago with an 0-6 mark. Pinson Valley handled the Colonels 48-0 last time. The next week, Pinson Valley hosts Gardendale and travels to Clay-Chalkville on Sept. 18. On Sept. 25, the Indians travel to McAdory.
The Indians will close their region schedule Oct. 23 at home against Shades Valley, who they upset last season 28-26. Their final regular season game comes the following week as they host Minor in a non-region clash.
Pinson Valley will enjoy its open date Oct. 9. The break is wedged between a pair of critical region contests. The Indians host Huffman for homecoming Oct. 2 and visit Center Point on Oct. 16.
Glover has four non-region opponents scheduled: Hartselle, Class 4A Oneonta, McAdory and Minor. Each of those four are coming off playoff-reaching campaigns with a combined record of 35-12.
