TRUSSVILLE — Another item on Trussville City Schools’ capital plan is about to be checked off.
The Trussville City Board of Education last Monday approved Pelham-based Williford Orman Construction to renovate the cafeteria at Hewitt-Trussville Middle School.
The cost is $335,200. The equipment will be paid for through Child Nutrition Program funds and the installation will be paid for through state capital outlay funds.

The work includes creating new serving lines, a reconfiguration of the cafeteria, a new manager’s office, more storage space and new equipment. No seating space will be lost as a result of the renovation.
Work will begin when this school year ends and will be completed by the start of the 2015-2016 school year in August.
The serving lines in the cafeteria are the original ones from January 1984, when students began attending the former Hewitt-Trussville High School. The building has been a middle school since 2009.
This project was listed on the school system’s capital plan, which outlines the major capital projects that the system anticipates completing over the next five years. It was approved in September 2014.
