TRUSSVILLE — Hewitt-Trussville High School will offer several new courses and programs for the 2015-2016 school year.
Four new courses will be taught under the umbrella of fine arts. They are:
- Musical Theatre: Performing Arts yearlong course
- Two-Dimensional Art: Visual Arts yearlong course
- Drawing Techniques: Visual Arts semester course
- Portfolio Development: Visual Arts semester course
Four new courses will be taught as part of the Finance and Engineering academies. They are:
- Dual Enrollment Accounting I and Accounting II: Finance Academy yearlong course
- Insurance: Finance Academy semester course
- Dual Enrollment Microcomputer Applications: Finance Academy semester course
- Computer Science and Software Engineering: Engineering Academy yearlong course
New math courses — Computer Science Principles or AP Computer Science A — are also available.
Two new programs will be available next school year. They are:
- Fire Science/Firefighter Training: Sponsored and taught by the Trussville Fire Department in conjunction with the Alabama Fire College, this is a yearlong, double-period class.
- Emergency Medical Technician Training: Dual enrollment class through Jefferson State Community College, this is a yearlong course.
Fast track career programs for Hewitt-Trussville High School seniors will include pharmacy technician, certified nurse assistant and dental assistant.
