CENTER POINT — Just after 2 a.m. Thursday Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded to an apartment in the 100 block of 14th Avenue Northeast in Center Point to investigate a report of a shooting.
They arrived to find a 28-year-old female suffering from a single gunshot wound to her arm. The victim told deputies she had been in her apartment with her current boyfriend when there was a knock at the door.
She recognized the person as her ex-boyfriend and invited him in. The current boyfriend went into another room so the two could speak in private. The victim and her ex-boyfriend began to argue. The ex-boyfriend produced a handgun and shot the victim in the right forearm, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The ex-boyfriend fled the apartment before deputies arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital with a non life-threatening injury.
The victim has given conflicting information on the identity of the shooter. He is still at large, according to the sheriff’s office.
