TRUSSVILLE — Niche.com has released its list of 2015 best food by school district in Alabama, and Trussville City Schools is near the top.
Trussville City Schools ranked second in the state of Alabama behind just Enterprise City Schools.
The rest of the top 10, in order, include Fort Payne City Schools, Homewood City Schools, Auburn City Schools, Hoover City Schools, Muscle Shoals City Schools, Vestavia Hills City Schools, Hartselle City Schools and Walker County Schools.
Jefferson County Schools was No. 21 and Birmingham City Schools was No. 25.
The rankings were based on district spending statistics, and surveys from students and parents. A high ranking indicates the district offers a variety of healthy, quality food options; accommodates various dietary preferences like vegan and gluten-free; and the students rate the quality of food favorably.
According to Niche.com’s results, Trussville City Schools earned a 4.0 rating out of 5 from 17 respondents. The expenses per student totaled ,136. Jefferson County Schools earned a 3.2 out of 5 from 185 respondents. The expenses for student totaled ,009, according to the study.

Earlier this year, Niche.com released its list of 2015 best school districts in Alabama, and Trussville City Schools ranked No. 7 on the list. Ahead of Trussville, in order, were Homewood City Schools, Mountain Brook City Schools, Hoover City Schools, Auburn City Schools, Vestavia Hills City Schools and Madison City Schools. Jefferson County Schools ranked No. 44 on that list. Birmingham City Schools came in at No. 90.
