TRUSSVILLE — The projected bid opening date for the elementary school in Trussville’s Cahaba Project has been moved from Feb. 5 to Feb. 10 at 3 p.m.
The Trussville City Board of Education will then hold a called meeting on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 8:30 a.m., likely to approve the bids for the construction of both elementary schools. The other will be near Magnolia Place.
The board meeting will be for the purpose of considering bids, contracts/agreements and personnel.
The bids for the Magnolia Place school were opened Jan. 13, with the low bidder coming in nearly $5 million over Trussville City Schools’ budget. School officials have since been working to reduce that number.
The plan is to open both schools for the 2016-2017 school year.
The school system is also asking for input from the public on the official names of the elementary schools.
