CLAY — Clay Public Library Director Karen Moody has accepted another position.
Moody was hired Monday to be the new director at the Warrior Public Library.
Moody had been the director at the Clay Public Library for almost five years. She said the city of Clay doesn’t offer retirement, whereas the city of Warrior offers retirement through Retirement Systems of Alabama. Moody already has nine years of previous service in that system from Trussville.
“I am also intrigued by the plans for the future growth of the Warrior Regional Library,” Moody said.
Clay City Manager Ronnie Dixon said the search for a new library director has begun.
“We will continue on with our present employees, supplemented with some additional part-time help during the search,” he said.
In July 2014, Clay Public Library Assistant Director Joy Lee left to take a position with Gadsden City Schools. Lee, who was the assistant director for four years, will be a media specialist within the Gadsden school system. Lee previously worked at the Trussville Public Library for eight years.
As of Nov. 6, 2014, the Clay Public Library’s hours were 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. The library is closed Saturday.
The Clay Public Library, which opened in October 2009, is located at 7257 Old Springville Road.
