TRUSSVILLE — There may be just one word to describe Paine Primary School’s appreciation for the Trussville City Board of Education.
Super.
January is School Board Appreciation Month, and each Trussville City Board of Education member and Superintendent Pattie Neill on Monday received artwork depicting each of them as a superhero.
Neill was named “Positive Pattie.” Board President Bill Roberts, his face blended into the Batman costume, was named “Ravenous Roberts.” Stan Garrett, shown wearing the Captain America costume, was nicknamed “Stellar Stan.”
Sid McNeal, shown as Superman, was dubbed “Marvelous McNeal.” Gayle Glenn was depicted as Catwoman and named “Genius Glenn.” Kathy Brown, her face blended into the Wonder Woman costume, was named “Bold Brown.”
A short video was played showing each in their costume. The song that was played in the video was to the tune of the “Spiderman” song, but the lyrics were changed to sing about the school board.
Another video that was played showed Hewitt-Trussville Middle School students saying “Thank you for helping us learn” in sign language. Paine Intermediate School students made cards and banners that filled the board room. Hewitt-Trussville High School Principal Tim Salem brought cookies for the board members.
Roberts said serving the school system is a “labor of love.”
