TRUSSVILLE — Hewitt-Trussville’s softball team has added another college commitment, as freshman Tate Moseley announced her verbal commitment to play for Auburn University on Monday night.
The speedy outfielder marks the third Lady Husky to accept an offer from a Southeastern Conference school, joining teammates Maddie Dorsett (Mississippi State) and Taylor Beshears (Arkansas).
“I am so proud of Tate that she is living her dream to play college softball,” Hewitt-Trussville softball coach and athletics director Karen Johns said. “Auburn is a program that offers her a great education and an opportunity to play in the Women’s College World Series every year.”
Moseley, though just a freshman, is entering her third season as a starter and mainstay on the team. She plays with the Birmingham Thunderbolts travel team, considered one of the top travel teams in the state.
“Tate brings great leadership to our team,” Johns said. “Her teammates love her.”
Hewitt-Trussville finished the 2014 season with a 32-16 record and was the Class 6A, Area 12 champion. Johns will be in her first year as coach of the Lady Huskies, as they begin play in February.
