TRUSSVILLE — Hewitt-Trussville defensive coordinator Adam Caine is leaving the program after one season.
Caine has accepted the head coaching position at Sequatchie County (Tenn.) High School in his hometown of Dunlap.
“We are disappointed that we are losing Coach Caine, but we are excited about a great opportunity for him and his family,” said Hewitt-Trussville head coach Josh Floyd. “Coach Caine did a great job of building a foundation for our defense. He brought a certain intensity to the practice field that brought out the best in our guys.”

Hewitt-Trussville posted a 5-6 record in Floyd’s first season in 2014. The defense allowed 33.5 points per game.
“We will begin immediately looking for the next DC to help take our program to a championship level,” Floyd said.
Prior to Hewitt-Trussville, Caine spent three seasons at Shiloh Christian (Ark.) High School. A 21-year football coaching veteran, Caine came to Shiloh from The McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn., where he also served as linebackers coach. Prior to that, Caine spent nine years coaching at the collegiate level. He served as defensive coordinator at the University of the South and was the special teams coordinator at Samford University. In addition to that, Caine was also an assistant coach at Washington & Lee University and Austin Peay State University. Caine began his coaching career at John Carroll High School in Birmingham as the offensive coordinator.
Caine was an all-city football player at the McCallie School, where he graduated in 1989. He attended Birmingham-Southern College and received a degree in business. He also obtained a master’s degree in health from Austin Peay State University.
