TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City Board of Education on Dec. 19 approved of a UAB research project involving students at Hewitt-Trussville High School.
The project will consist of researchers studying the habits of student drivers as they relate to texting while driving.
The researchers will bring results back to the school, including best practices for student drivers.
In other news, Oktoberfest Trussville, LLC’s Cyril LaGroue and Pat McTamney presented a $1,000 check to Hewitt-Trussville High School exceptional education teacher Carrie Jones for Special Olympics.
McTamney said it was a small donation. Jones, however, said donations like this allow the Special Olympics flag football team to go to Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn for a game.
“It’s a huge amount,” she said.
Paine Intermediate School Principal Autumn Jeter was nominated by Alabama State Department of Education Superintendent Tommy Bice to be a member of the Alabama Council for Leadership Development, which provides advice for the development of a seamless system of professional development for Alabama’s instructional leaders.
Members serve a three-year staggered term and meet five times each year.
