TRUSSVILLE — People in Trussville on Thursday reported on social media about seeing eight Trussville Police Department Chevrolet Tahoes in the Target parking lot.
They worried about possible shoplifters, grew concerned over employee and customer safety.
They didn’t need to worry. Far from it, actually.

For the second year, the police department hosted “Shop With a Cop” at Target on U.S. Highway 11 in Trussville.
As part of the event, 10 children from the Big Oak Ranch received $100 each from Target to shop for what they wanted for Christmas, said Capt. Jeff Bridges.
John Croyle founded the Big Oak Ranch in 1974 as a home for children between the ages of 6 and 18 who have been abused, neglected or abandoned. Big Oak Ranch, Inc. operates Big Oak Boys’ Ranch in Gadsden, Big Oak Girls’ Ranch in Springville and Westbrook Christian School in Rainbow City.
