TRUSSVILLE — Paine Intermediate School in Trussville has started a Parent Math Academy.
The first meeting was Thursday, Dec. 11.
The academy will have monthly sessions, one from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In a letter to parents, Principal Beth Bruno said math instruction today is different from what parents and others experienced in the past. The sessions will focus on current instructional approaches and strategies.
The first session for third-grade parents focused on multiplication fact fluency. The first session for fourth-grade parents focused on long division and the first session for parents of fifth-graders focused on multiplying fractions.
The school has also created a math blog for parents, which can be accessed at www.paineintmath.blogspot.com.
