BIRMINGHAM — Congressman Spencer Bachus and his wife hosted the Holiday Card Artists’ Reception on Dec. 5, where Jefferson County Schools vision students swept the awards.
The card front was won by Brighton’s Chris Brown with his artwork “Christmas Eve Night.” The back of the congressman’s card will be Frankayla Brazzill’s work. She’s a sophomore at Clay-Chalkville High School.
Bachus couldn’t decide between these two top winners, so he decided to use both students’ art pieces.
Their teachers are Kathryn Manley and Caroline Harbison, and Liz Jannsen.
UAB’s Vision Science Research Center/Education and Outreach Module supports in part this yearly art show with help from Bachus’ office, JefCoEd’s special education department and area school systems. Dr. Steve Pittler of the optometry department was the emcee of the event.
