TRUSSVILLE — A tour is planned for Tuesday, Dec. 16 of the progress of the Cahaba River restoration project in Trussville.
According to engineering firm LBYD, the tour will begin at 10 a.m. at the Trussville Senior Activity Center. It will last until about 11:30 a.m.

The event is open to the public. Those who attend are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the conditions, as the tour will be held along the reconstructed river shoreline.
At 10:15 a.m., a walking tour of the ongoing enhancement activities will begin. The tour will include stream structures (log and boulder vanes, enhanced riffles), erosion and sediment control practices, invasive plant management and native plant strategies (planting to be done in January and February).
The upper Cahaba River has been designated as an Outstanding Alabama Water but is also considered impaired due to sedimentation. The city of Trussville is undertaking a project to correct and stabilize erosion and sedimentation issues along a segment of the Cahaba River, which runs through Civitan Park.
