TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville Christmas Parade, hosted each year by the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce, will be broadcast live online Saturday, Dec. 13. The broadcast will begin at 3 p.m. and can be viewed at www.TrussvilleTribune.com.
Viewers will be able to watch the parade on their desktop computer, laptop, tablet or cell phone.
“With the continued expansion of Tribune Multimedia, broadcasting the Christmas parade is just another step toward showcasing the events and people in our community,” The Trussville Tribune publisher Scott Buttram said. “The Hewitt-Trussville homecoming parade was so well received by our readers that we knew this was the next logical event.”

Buttram said local video content and live streaming of local events will be a big part of the future of newspapers.
“It’s really exciting to consider all of the opportunities that the Internet affords the news media, especially newspapers,” Buttram said. “Live streaming events allows people who may not be able to attend for health issues or other reasons to enjoy the parade. Some of the participants may have out-of-town family members that otherwise wouldn’t be able to share in the experience. We’ll continue to look for other events of interest in our coverage area and keep expanding our offerings.”
The broadcast will be hosted by Katie Malone and Buttram.
Malone is also the host of the daily feature “Today’s Top 3,” which focuses on three news items that readers need to know about each day. “Today’s Top 3” is linked to The Trussville Tribune Facebook page each morning.
Tribune Multimedia launched online broadcasting in August with Tribune Sports Live, which aired every Tuesday night throughout the high school football season. The show focuses on Hewitt-Trussville, Clay-Chalkville and Pinson Valley high school football and features highlights from the previous week’s games as well as interviews with coaches and other personalities. It’s hosted by Pat Smith.
This season’s Tribune Sports Live run will culminate with the Clay-Chalkville appearance in the Class 6A state championship Friday and is scheduled to return next season.
