TRUSSVILLE – Hewitt-Trussville held an 18-point lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 57-22 victory over Altamont on Tuesday night at Bryant Bank Arena.
The Lady Huskies were briefly on pace to score 100 points, using a 25-7 burst in the opening frame to establish a firm grip on the game that would be maintained throughout.
“We have to work on doing what we do every quarter, no matter who the opponent is,” Hewitt-Trussville head coach Tonya Hunter said. “We have to do the same things with the same effort.”
Senior Cayla Dillard led Hewitt-Trussville (4-0) with 12 points and controlled the pace of the game from the point guard position. She connected on multiple outlet passes and wreaked havoc on the defensive end.
“Cayla does an excellent job controlling our offense,” Hunter said. “At times, we want to get her off the ball so she can shoot and score because she brings so much to the team.”
Altamont could never establish a rhythm offensively, scoring no more than seven points in any quarter (first and third).
Hewitt-Trussville returns to the court Saturday for the Bryant Bank Thanksgiving Classic.
