TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City Board of Education on Monday adopted vision and belief statements in preparation for accreditation for 2015-2016.
The approval is part of Trussville City Schools’ strategic plan and a requirement of AdvancED.There are standards that will be evaluated by an external review team next year. The standard leaders, principals and administrative team met with the AdvancED trainer, Garry Rickard, and the board last week in a two-hour work session.
The standards and their leaders are:
- Purpose and Direction: April Chamberlain
- Governance and Leadership: Jim Kirkland
- Teaching and Assessment for Learning: Beth Bruno and Jennifer Cardwell
- Resources and Support Systems: Mandi Logan
- Using Results for Continuous Improvement: Phyllis Faust
The new vision statement is: “Educators, staff, parents, and the community will work together to help students move forward on a positive path toward college and career readiness.”
The mission statement is: “The Mission of Trussville City Schools is to educate all students using high standards in a safe, nurturing environment fostering academic and career competencies that prepare them to be productive citizens.”
The five beliefs focused on are learning organization, school/community partnerships, collaboration and communication, learning environment, and culture of success.
In other news, Trussville City Board of Education member Sid McNeal is the new board vice president, replacing Danny Garrett.
