PINSON — Van Gogh self-portraits at Rudd Middle School were recently a hit.
Art teacher Casey Williamson taught students a self-portrait drawing formula that focused on creating correct proportion and size of the facial features. She then discussed with students Van Gogh and his painting style. They were shown examples of his self-portraits.
While painting their own faces in the Van Gogh style, students were learning about mixing colors, shading and how to create Van Gogh’s famous brushstrokes.
In other news, the Hispanic Night on Oct. 14 at Rudd Middle School was a success. About 200 people attended the event, which Rachel Reyes coordinated.
