CLAY — Clay-Chalkville stumbled a little bit in this week’s National High School Football 100 rankings.
The Cougars (11-0) fell from No. 11 in the nation to No. 19 after beating a 4-6 Scottsboro team 85-50 last week in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.
“Allowing 50 points against Scottsboro is not the look of a Top 15 — and arguably not a Top 25 — team,” the synopsis of Clay-Chalkville states. “The Cougars offense was too much although it scored 28 of those points in the fourth quarter to pull away from a team that should not have been putting up this much of a fight.”
Clay-Chalkville is still the highest-ranked team from Alabama in the national rankings. Hoover is No. 23 this week.
