CENTER POINT — A Center Point man and woman have been charged with trafficking heroin in separate incidents.
Just before 9 p.m. on Oct. 31, deputies stopped a Ford Mustang at the intersection of Houston Road and Alabama Highway 75 for a traffic violation. The driver of the car was asked for his driver’s license, but stated that he had none. The passenger in the car was found to have an outstanding warrant with another jurisdiction.
A drug K9 was deployed and indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle, according to a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office statement. A search of the car revealed 10 small bags of marijuana and a plastic back containing 10 grams of heroin. The passenger admitted the marijuana was his, but denied any knowledge of the heroin. Both were arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
The driver, 28-year-old Reginald Davidson of Center Point, was charged with trafficking heroin, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and various traffic offenses. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bonds totaling $257,000.
The passenger, 23-year-old Cornelius Coker of Irondale, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains in jail with bonds totaling $12,000.
In a separate incident Sunday around midnight, deputies stopped an Oldsmobile in the 1900 block of Center Point Parkway for a traffic violation. The driver of the car was found to have an outstanding warrant from of another jurisdiction and was arrested. She was found to be in possession of Valium, marijuana and cocaine. A subsequent search of her vehicle revealed a plastic bag containing 21 grams of heroin.
The driver was identified as 41-year-old Donna L. Austin of Center Point. She was charged with trafficking heroin, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
She was taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where she remains with bonds totaling $62,000.
