TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City Board of Education on Monday voted in favor of Hewitt-Trussville High School forming a mountain biking team.
Principal Tim Salem said the team will be part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association and already has about 20 students involved. There are currently four races set up to begin in the spring, he said.
“We’re excited about that,” Salem said.
Math teacher Rhonda Brittain will be the team’s sponsor, Salem said. He said practices will start in December and all coaches associated with the mountain bike team are trained.
