ALABASTER — Inclement weather was the only thing that stopped Hewitt-Trussville on Friday night at Thompson.
The Huskies beat the Warriors 41-7 in a game that was called due to lightning midway through the third quarter.
Hewitt-Trussville (4-3, 2-3 Class 7A, Region 3) got on the board first when junior Jarrion Street found the end zone on a 4-yard run halfway through the first quarter. Junior quarterback Zac Thomas ran the ball in from three yards out four minutes later to put the Huskies on top 14-0.

Thompson (0-7, 0-5) scored its only touchdown early in the second quarter when Frank Mwakajumba scored on a 6-yard run. It was set up by a Jabari Alexander interception.
Just a minute later, Thomas connected with Noah Igbinoghene from 53 yards out for a touchdown. Street ran for his second touchdown from nine yards out with 3:27 until halftime, pushing Hewitt-Trussville’s lead to 28-7.
With 2:05 remaining until halftime, Thomas found Cyle Moore for a 35-yard TD, making it 34-7. A Devin Reed 4-yard touchdown run with 9:09 remaining in the third quarter gave Hewitt-Trussville a 41-7 advantage. The game was called due to lightning in the area with 6:16 to play in the third quarter.
Thompson punted on six of its eight possessions. For the Warriors, Jordan Haywood completed 1-of-8 passes for eight yards. Mwakajuma rushed six times for 25 yards and a touchdown, and Carlos Stephens carried the ball 10 times for 33 yards.
For Hewitt-Trussville, Thomas completed 10-of-17 passes for 222 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Street rushed 10 times for 63 yards and two scores. Moore caught six passes for 109 yards and a touchdown, and Igbinoghene had three receptions for 76 yards and a TD.
Hewitt-Trussville will play at Mountain Brook next Friday night in a game that could eventually determine the final playoff spot from Class 7A, Region 3. The Spartans lost 27-24 to No. 6 Oak Mountain. Mountain Brook fell to 3-2 in region play, while Oak Mountain improved to 4-1.
