BIRMINGHAM — Just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were called to the intersection of Old Springville Road and Earline Circle to investigate a traffic accident.
Chief Deputy Randy Christian said they arrived to find a Chevrolet HHR that had struck a utility pole. Paramedics from Birmingham Fire and Rescue were treating the driver and only occupant of the car.
The 45-year-old Center Point woman was transported by ambulance to UAB Hospital. She died at the hospital.
The investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling south on Old Springville Road when the driver lost control and struck the utility pole.
The driver has not yet been identified by authorities.
