FAIRFIELD — A man was found dead in a Fairfield structure fire on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at approximately 6:18 p.m.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the Fairfield Fire and Rescue and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a house fire at 409 44th Street Fairfield, during which time the man was located inside the burning residence and pronounced on the scene at 9:10 p.m.
“Neighbors reported seeing an unknown male hanging around the abandoned home for about a week,” Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Joni Money stated.
At this time, the man has not been identified.
The cause of the fire and circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by Fairfield Fire and Rescue and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
