BESSEMER — An inmate at William Donaldson Correctional Facility serving a 6-year sentence for unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle from a 2021 conviction out of Houston County died on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at approximately 9 a.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, 41-year-old Tycia Leon Marshall was found by correctional officers unresponsive inside an open-style dormitory.
“An autopsy will be performed on Dec. 1, 2022, to assist with determining the cause and manner of death,” Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates stated.
The circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the Alabama Department of Correction – Law Enforcement Services Division.
