JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has announced that tomorrow night, Tuesday, Nov. 29, through early Wednesday morning, Nov. 30, Central Alabama will be under a slight risk (level 2/5) for severe weather.

Storms are in the forecast to target our area during the evening and overnight hours. These storms could be severe and the main threat with these storms will be tornadoes, straight line winds in excess of 60 mph, and quarter size hail.
Currently, the expectation is that storms will begin to move into the area between 5-7 p.m. These initial storms should only pose a hail and wind threat at this time. As we move into the overnight and early morning hours, the tornado threat will increase. Jefferson County EMA is encouraging everyone to have multiple methods of receiving weather and warning information, including methods that will wake them up from sleep.
Current timing for the central portion of the state is 5 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m Wednesday for storms. The tornado threat at this time will be closer to the 10 p.m/midnight hour and will continue until the storms fully exit Central Alabama and move to the southeast.
