JEFFERSON COUNTY — During a domestic violence arrest, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office discovered a large quantity of drugs on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at approximately 2 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies in the Bessemer division of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 6000 block of Moore Drive in McCalla to investigate a domestic violence call.
“During the investigation, deputies saw a large quantity of marijuana in plain view at the home,” Lieutenant Joni Money stated. “Detectives with the Vice and Narcotics division were called to the location. They obtained a search warrant for the residence and a vehicle that had been utilized in the initial call for assistance.”
During the search, detectives recovered 151 grams of Oxycontin, 117 grams of Hydrocodone, 1360 grams of methamphetamine, 67 grams of Xanax, and 3301 grams of marijuana.
Ryan Darnell Owens, 35, was taken into custody and is being charged with three counts of drug trafficking, domestic violence 1st degree, unlawful possession of controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bonds total $127,500.
“Additional arrests from the incident are pending,” Money stated.
