JEFFERSON COUNTY — A tornado watch has been issued for Jefferson County until 7 p.m.
Currently, the storms are approaching the AL/MS state line and are expected to push east through the evening hours.
Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening across all of Central Alabama, with the relatively highest risk generally along and west of Interstate 65. Tornadoes, damaging winds up to 60 mph, and hail up to quarter size will be possible.
Winds will also gust to 30 to 40 mph outside of thunderstorms today and this evening across the northern half of Central Alabama.
