BIRMINGHAM — A Bessemer woman was found dead in an intersection in Birmingham on Friday, September 30, at approximately 7:46 p.m.
According to the Birmingham Police Department (BPD), 25-year-old Asia Johnson was found unresponsive at the intersection of 71st Street and 1st Avenue North.
“Upon Arrival, East Precinct officers responded to the location and observed Ms. Johnson suffering from an unknown injury,” Sergeant Monica Law stated. “Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and attempted CPR to no avail.”
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced Johnson dead at the scene.
“A homicide detective and evidence technician arrived at the scene of what was believed to be an unclassified death at the time,” Law stated. “The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office contacted the Birmingham Police Department to advise the victim’s death should be classified as a homicide. Currently, there is no one in custody.”

This is Birmingham’s 106th murder investigation of 2022, including six justifiable death investigations.
