TRUSSVILLE — A Trussville student was selected as Miss Iron City’s Rising Star on Friday, Sept. 23.
Blakely Holt, 11, is a sixth grader at Hewitt-Trussville Middle School. She is the daughter of Andy and Dennie Holt. Alabama’s Rising Stars is a mentoring program of the Miss Alabama Competition. Through this program, candidates interact with young ladies ages seven to 11, so they can learn about the 100-year-old scholarship organization.
Holt will be attending the Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen competition in March alongside 16-year-old Hayden resident Harper Howard who was named Miss Iron City’s Outstanding Teen 2023.
Miss Iron City’s Outstanding Teen is a preliminary competition for Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen.
Additionally, Jayla Duncan of Childersburg was crowned Miss Iron City 2023. Duncan is a Freshman at Samford University and will compete at Miss Alabama in June 2023.
Miss Iron City and Miss Iron City’s Outstanding Teen are preliminary competitions for Miss Alabama and Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen, a part of the Miss America scholarship organization. Competitors in Miss Iron City must live, attend school full time, or work in one of the following counties: Cullman, Calhoun, Talladega, Chilton, Fayette, Jefferson, St Clair, Shelby, Tuscaloosa, Walker, Blount, or Bibb Counties.
