TRUSSVILLE — Jason Gaston, public relations supervisor for Trussville City Schools, has resigned. He told TCS superintendent Dr. Pattie Neill of his decision on Monday, and the resignation is expected to be on the agenda at the next Board of Education meeting.

“I enjoyed collaborating with team members to create new communication processes and enhance existing ones,” Gaston said. “Like all positions I have held throughout my career, I am leaving with new ideas and new friends. Trussville has amazing students, parents, and community members – which ensures a bright future.”
Neill said in a statement, “We appreciate Mr. Gaston’s service to Trussville City Schools, and we wish him the best of luck in the future!”
Gaston was hired away from Hoover City Schools almost two years ago. While at Hoover, he served as district coordinator of public relations, a position he held for over 13 years. His first day on the job for TCS was Jan. 18, 2021.
Gaston has a Master of Science in Strategic Communication, a degree he earned from Troy University. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Freed-Hardeman University. In addition, he is accredited in Public Relations through the Universal Accreditation Board with APR Certification.
“Mr. Gaston has presented nationally on a variety of school public relations topics in Anaheim, CA, Baltimore, MD, San Antonio, TX, Jackson, MS, and Nashville, TN,” TCS said in a press release at the time of his hiring.
Gaston has been appointed by the Alabaster Board of Education as the school system’s Coordinator of Public Relations, and this is a new position for Alabaster City Schools. He will start his new position later this month and will be working directly for Dr. Wayne Vickers, the Superintendent of Alabaster City Schools. Alabaster City Schools, located in Shelby County, has around 6,300 students and is growing rapidly.
Additional titles Gaston holds include Southeast Vice-President for the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) from 2015 to 2018 and two-time former President of the Alabama School Public Relations Association (ALSPRA). Additionally, Gaston was named Hoover City Schools Employee of the Year for 2019.
