HAYDEN — Hewitt-Trussville Volleyball went 6-0 on Saturday to claim the Hayden HS Invitational championship. The Huskies opened pool play with a 2-1 win over Oneonta. HT then closed pool play with 2-0 wins over Sylvania and Altamont.
In the quarterfinals, the Huskies were pushed to the third set by Carbon Hill, but persevered for a 2-1 win. The Huskies defeated Altamont for the second time on Saturday with a 2-0 semifinal win. In the championship match, the Huskies defeated host school Hayden 2-0.
Coach Jackie Cox complimented the entire team and talked about how the depth of the team helped them to the championship.
Hewitt-Trussville is now 8-0 on the season. This week, the Huskies will host a pair of tri-matches. Pell City and Helena will visit on Tuesday, while Vestavia and Mortimer Jordan will visit on Thursday.
