CHEROKEE COUNTY — A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Centre man on Friday, July 22, at approximately 9:21 a.m.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), James David Kirby, 72, was critically injured when the 2005 Ford F150 that he was driving, left the roadway and struck a ditch.
Kirby was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was transported to Floyd Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The crash occurred on Cherokee County 16 near Cherokee County 22, approximately five miles east of Centre, in Cherokee County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
