BIRMINGHAM — A Birmingham woman was arrested for the murder of a 35-year-old man that occurred on Monday, July 11, at approximately 7:39 a.m.
According to the Birmingham Police Department (BPD), 32-year-old Malarie Holcomb was arrested for the murder of Alonzo Colvin.
Detectives obtained a warrant for capital murder with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. Holcomb was arrested and will be held in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
“This homicide was deemed domestic in nature,” Sergeant Rodarius Mauldin said.

On July 11, 2022, West Precinct Officers were dispatched to Heflin Road and Pratt Highway on a call of a person shot.
“Officers arrived and observed a vehicle in the roadway occupied by a male in the driver’s seat,” Mauldin said. “Upon further investigation, officers discovered the victim was unresponsive and wounded by gunfire.”
Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced Colvin dead.
“The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was involved in a verbal argument with the suspect prior to being shot,” Mauldin said.
This is the 67th murder investigation of 2022, with five justifiable death investigations.
