BESSEMER — An inmate at William Donaldson Correctional Facility serving a life sentence for murder from a 2010 conviction out of Jefferson County died on Saturday, July 2, at approximately 5:05 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Kenneth Bernard James, Jr., 36, was found unresponsive on his cell floor by his cellmate.
James was pronounced dead at the William Donaldson Correctional Facility.
“ An autopsy was performed on July 3, 2022, with no signs of trauma or foul play found at this time,” Deputy Coroner William Yates said.
The circumstances surrounding the death is being investigated by the Alabama Department of Correction – Law Enforcement Services Division.
