LEEDS — Susan DuBose is projected to win the Alabama State House District 45 primary race.

With 58 percent of the vote counted, Dubose has a commanding lead of 5,097 votes to incumbent Dickie Drake’s 2,485 in the GOP primary.
District 45 includes includes Leeds, parts of Chelsea, Greystone, Highland Lakes, Mt Laurel and Shoal Creek, and parts of north Shelby County, eastern Jefferson County and southwest St. Clair County.
Susan DuBose is a retired banker who earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Alabama in 1985 and a graduate degree from Springhill College in 1990. She lives in Hoover.
Drake, who lives in Leeds, is the chair of the Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee and also serves on the House Judiciary Committee as well as several other committee assignments.
