INDIANA — The wanted Lauderdale County correctional officer, Vicki White, and inmate, Casey White (no relations), were located 11 days after their disappearance in Evansville, Indiana, on Monday, May 9.

According to Carol Robinson at AL.com, after a police chase in Evansville, 38-year-old Casey White is in custody, and 56-year-old Vicki White reportedly died in the hospital from injuries sustained from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The chase ensued after a tip to law enforcement that the pair was located at an Indiana hotel.
Robinson states that Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said Casey White and Vicki White were in a black Ford F150 that Casey White was driving

Vicki White suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound when Casey White reportedly wrecked the vehicle and surrendered to the authorities.
No other citizens or law enforcement were injured during the chase, and it is also not known if there were any weapons located in the vehicle.

Robinsons states that Casey White and Vicki White will be returned to Alabama, but it is unknown at this moment when. It was announced today that the former correctional officer is being charged with permitting/aiding an escape, identity theft, and second-degree forgery, and Casey White is now being charged with escape.
Casey was charged with capital murder in September 2020 in the brutal stabbing of 58-year-old Connie Ridgeway. He was already serving a 75-year sentence for a 2015 crime spree that involved a home invasion, carjacking, and a police chase. Casey confessed to the murder and was awaiting trial at the Lauderdale County Jail when he disappeared.

The missing Lauderdale County correctional officer’s car was found in Williamson, Tennessee, on Friday, May 6. Law Enforcement following up on a tip from Thursday, May 5, of a car matching the description Vicki White and Casey White (no relation) were reportedly using was found abandoned in the area.
