PINSON — Pinson Valley put four runs on the board in the second inning and added two more in the third to cruise past Shades Valley here on Wednesday, April 20.
Madison Newsome went the full game for the Indians, allowing 11 hits, striking out three and walking one, while Maleah Pliscofsky and Caitlin Burford came up big on the offensive end for Pinson Valley.
Buford went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Pliscofsky went 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored. Newsome helped her own cause by going 1-for-2 from the plate with a walk and scored.
For Shades Valley, Bethan Moran took the loss in the circle, lasting three innings and allowing six runs on seven hits. Jenna Paxton came on in relief and was able to staunch the bleeding, but the Mounties could never quite make up the ground they lost.
Paxton went 3-for-4 with an RBI and scored twice, while Alyssa Butts was 4-for-4 with 2 RBI and scored. Haylee Knight went 2-for-3, while Trinity Collier went 1-for-3 and scored.
Pinson Valley plays Gardendale tonight at 5 p.m., while Shades Valley plays at Clay-Chalkville tonight at 6:30 p.m.
